The embassies of IGAD member states and major donor countries convened on March 13, 2025, to discuss the urgent need for advancing peace in South Sudan. The meeting participants expressed appreciation for IGAD's leadership, particularly through the recent summit held on March 12. They emphasized the importance of open and direct dialogue among all parties involved in the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS), including President Kiir and First Vice President Machar.
Ambassadors and representatives from various embassies attended this meeting. These included Canada, Djibouti, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Kenya, Norway, the Netherlands, Somalia, Sudan, Uganda, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Additionally, a representative from the Delegation of the European Union was present. The Chairman of the Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (R-JMEC) hosted this gathering at his offices.
