The U.S. Embassy in Chad has opened the annual competition for the Fulbright Foreign Student Program, which provides funding for two years of graduate study in the United States to complete a master’s degree. The program is seeking qualified Chadian applicants who must submit their applications online by May 4, 2025.
Applicants should demonstrate English proficiency with TOEFL scores of 575-PBT or 90-iBT to engage effectively in full-time graduate studies in the U.S. Priority will be given to those meeting these requirements.
Successful candidates will begin their studies in fall 2027. Those with limited English skills may be considered for the Fulbright Long-Term English (LTE) Program, which offers up to eight months of language training starting January or March 2026.
Eligible candidates must aim for a master’s degree in their current field but not seek MBA, Law, or non-degree programs if they wish to join LTE. Those applying from fields like English and Linguistics need a minimum TOEFL score of 65.
Funding is capped at two years and depends on approval by the Fulbright Scholarship Board, available funds, and academic placement success. Applicants must have completed at least four years of university study equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree, though some exceptions apply.
The application process requires three letters of reference that can be submitted in French, Arabic, or English; however, semi-finalists must provide translations if necessary. Digital copies of official transcripts are also required and must be translated into English if originally written in another language.
Preference will be given to applicants with no recent or extensive U.S. experience and those who show high motivation and commitment to completing the program and returning to Chad afterward. Restrictions apply to former Fulbright grantees and certain employees connected with U.S government agencies.
Applications must adhere strictly to anti-plagiarism policies using software checks against copied content from generative artificial intelligence tools as defined by institutions' evolving guidelines.
