Thank you, Mr. President.

The United States reaffirmed its commitment to ending the Russia-Ukraine war during a recent Security Council meeting on February 24. The conflict has resulted in significant loss of life on both sides, with hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians and Russians having died. As the war drags on, the suffering continues to escalate for both nations. The call is clear: the war must end immediately, and any peace achieved should be enduring rather than temporary.

Resolution 2774 was adopted by the Security Council as a demonstration that the United Nations remains aligned with its Charter's objectives—to maintain international peace and security through peaceful dispute resolution. This action underscored a shared understanding among UN Member States that the ongoing war is a tragedy requiring an end.

While Resolution 2774 does not bring an immediate halt to hostilities, it represents progress toward achieving peace. The United States expressed its dedication to playing an active and constructive role in this peace-seeking process.

Mr. President, this development illustrates that the Security Council—and by extension, the UN—is committed to fulfilling its foundational mission. Continued efforts are anticipated in this direction.

I thank you.
