HSBC Holdings plc has announced the appointment of Ian Stuart as Group Customer and Culture Director. This newly created position will report to Group Chief Executive Georges Elhedery. The role is designed to ensure that customer needs are central to the bank's strategy and that market-leading products are developed globally.

Ian Stuart will assume his new role after a successor is appointed for his current position as CEO of HSBC UK. The process for appointing his successor is underway, with further updates on Ian's start date expected in due course.

The appointment aligns with HSBC's strategy to transform into a more dynamic organization by operating through four key businesses. These changes aim to focus on core strengths and deliver strategic growth for customers and shareholders.

Georges Elhedery commented, "A customer-centric, high-performance culture is the foundation of delivering exceptional outcomes for our customers. It builds trust, enhances experiences, and ensures customer satisfaction whilst empowering our colleagues to meet customer needs, drive innovation, and unlock new opportunities. This is vital to the long-term success of HSBC."

Elhedery added, "In this new role, Ian will consistently challenge the Group Operating Committee in shaping the culture, ensuring that the voice of the customer informs every decision and action we take. I look forward to seeing Ian’s impact across the Group."
