Siemens has introduced the SENTRON 5SV3 residual current circuit breaker (RCCB), type A/AC, as its first product to incorporate TECHNYL 4EARTH from DOMO Chemicals. This high-performance polyamide is made from 50% recycled nylon and maintains the performance and quality of traditional materials.

Andreas Matthé, CEO of Electrical Products at Siemens Smart Infrastructure, stated, “We want to lead the industry with smart and sustainable technology. It’s our ‘new normal’ to deploy as much sustainable material as possible for each new product to support our customers in achieving both optimized operations and their environmental goals. We are delighted to promote circularity and responsible use of resources in the electrical and electronics industry together with our partner DOMO Chemicals.”

The SENTRON 5SV3 RCCBs meet the standards of Siemens' EcoTech label by using sustainable materials and offering a lifespan exceeding standard expectations set by IEC 61008-1. These devices are designed for 10,000 operating cycles, ensuring reliable performance over time. The standardized accessory system allows for easy upgrades, maintaining productivity and cost-effectiveness.

TECHNYL 4EARTH C 52G1 V25 CR GY 2747 is used extensively in these RCCBs' covers and housings. It is UL certified, ensuring compliance with safety standards. The flame-retardant system is phosphorous and halogen-free, providing excellent molding and electrical properties.

Juha Jokinen, Chief Commercial Officer Engineered Materials at DOMO Chemicals, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: “At DOMO Chemicals, our ambition is to support our customers in achieving a lower carbon footprint without compromising performance. We are thrilled to partner with Siemens to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions that meet the growing demand for environmentally friendly materials.”

DOMO Chemicals offers a broad portfolio of sustainable polymers for the electrical market. These include mechanically and chemically recycled solutions with varying levels of environmental impact reduction tailored to customer needs.

The partnership between DOMO Chemicals and Siemens Smart Infrastructure aims to expand the availability of this sustainable material globally. DOMO's advanced recycling technology supports this initiative by providing a range of sustainable polyamide solutions through its strong supplier network.
