Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a conversation with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa al-Sudani, focusing on the strategic partnership between the United States and Iraq. According to Spokesperson Tammy Bruce, their discussion covered several key topics including the stability and sovereignty of Iraq.

The two leaders addressed concerns about Iran's influence in the region and emphasized ongoing efforts to prevent ISIS from making a resurgence that could destabilize the broader area. A significant part of their dialogue was dedicated to Iraq's energy independence. They agreed on the urgency of reopening the Iraq-Türkiye Pipeline and honoring contractual agreements with U.S. companies operating in Iraq, which is expected to attract further investment.

Additionally, Secretary Rubio highlighted the importance of ensuring Syria does not become a sanctuary for terrorism or pose threats to neighboring countries. Both parties committed to maintaining consultations on regional issues and advancing their security partnership.
