DentaQuest, a part of Sun Life U.S., has announced that it has again achieved full URAC Dental Plan Accreditation. This recognition comes from URAC, an independent organization known for promoting healthcare quality by establishing high standards in clinical practice, consumer protections, performance measurement, operations infrastructure, and risk management. The accreditation highlights DentaQuest's commitment to quality care and improved patient outcomes.
David Healy, president of Dental at Sun Life U.S., expressed his satisfaction with the achievement: "This achievement is a testament to DentaQuest's unwavering dedication to excellence in dental care and service," he said. "It validates our ongoing efforts to enhance quality, improve outcomes, and deliver exceptional value to our members and partners. As we continue to innovate and grow, this recognition reinforces our position as a leader in dental benefits management and our dedication to improving the oral health of all."
URAC accreditation requires a detailed review of an applicant’s policies and procedures against nationally recognized standards. The award remains effective until January 1, 2026.
Shawn Griffin, MD, President and CEO of URAC stated: "The URAC Dental Plan seal shows an organization's commitment to high quality in healthcare in the areas of risk management, consumer protection and empowerment, operations and infrastructure, as well as performance management and improvement. We are proud to recognize DentaQuest for their achievement in these areas."
Founded in 1990 as a non-profit organization, URAC promotes healthcare quality through various accreditation programs developed with industry experts. These programs address multiple aspects across the healthcare sector including health equity and workplace mental health.
DentaQuest manages dental benefits for about 35 million Americans through Preventistry—a model focusing on preventive care. They are also the largest Medicaid and CHIP dental benefits administrator in the United States by membership.
