Consular officials from the U.S. Embassy in Muscat will be visiting Sohar on Sunday, February 23, 2025, to provide services to American citizens. The event will take place at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Resort, Sohar, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The outreach will offer various services including passport applications and renewals, Consular Reports of Birth Abroad applications, notarial services, and assistance with registration for the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). To attend the event and access these services, interested individuals must schedule an appointment by completing a specified form.
Regarding payment for services, fees for passport applications and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad must be paid online via Pay.Gov. Applicants should bring their receipt to the appointment. If this is not possible, cash payments can be made on-site in either US dollars or Omani Rial with exact change required. Other consular service fees are payable only in cash.
Applicants need to bring original documents along with photocopies when applying for passports or Consular Reports of Birth Abroad. For those requiring notarial services that need a witness signature, applicants must provide their own witnesses as embassy officials cannot serve in this capacity.
All passports and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad issued during this event can be collected from the U.S. Embassy in Muscat or shipped at the applicant's expense.
The STEP program allows U.S. citizens traveling abroad to enroll their trips so they can be contacted quickly in case of emergency situations. Assistance with STEP registration will also be available during this outreach event.
For more details about applying for passports or Consular Reports of Birth Abroad and other related information, individuals are encouraged to contact MuscatACS@state.gov or visit the U.S. Embassy's website.
