On February 14, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth held meetings with Polish President Andrzej Duda and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. The discussions emphasized the strong bilateral relationship between the United States and Poland.
Pentagon Press Secretary John Ullyot provided details on these engagements. In his conversations with both leaders, Secretary Hegseth highlighted Poland's role as a model ally in defense spending and modernization efforts. He noted that Poland sets an example for NATO burden-sharing commitments and European leadership within the alliance.
Secretary Hegseth also acknowledged Poland's hospitality and support as a host nation for the largest number of U.S. forces stationed on NATO’s eastern flank.
The following day, February 15, Secretary Hegseth joined Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz in visiting U.S. and Polish soldiers in Powidz. During this visit, they observed joint training exercises aimed at improving readiness and strengthening deterrence capabilities.
