Raymond Greene, the new Director of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), has expressed his honor at returning to Taiwan in this capacity. Upon his arrival, Greene met with Taiwan's president, vice president, and several ministry heads. He highlighted Taiwan's vibrant democracy, robust economy, innovative culture, and active civil society.
Greene acknowledged the geopolitical challenges that Taiwan faces and their implications for global peace and prosperity. "Addressing these challenges is my top priority as AIT Director," he stated. He emphasized collaboration with leaders from both ruling and opposition parties in Taiwan to strengthen security, deepen societal resilience, and expand international connectivity.
Greene also noted the importance of promoting the U.S.-Taiwan relationship across various fields such as economic cooperation, technological advancement, cultural exchange, and people-to-people interactions. "Of course," he added, "this also means further promoting the already 'rock-solid' U.S.-Taiwan relationship."
