On February 17, 2025, the United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, issued a statement congratulating Kosovo on its National Day. This year marks the 17th anniversary of Kosovo's declaration of independence.

In his statement, Rubio acknowledged the resilience and determination of the people of Kosovo. "On behalf of the United States of America, I extend my congratulations as you mark the 17th anniversary of Kosovo’s declaration of independence—an occasion to reflect on the resilience, determination, and aspirations of the people of Kosovo," he said.

Rubio emphasized the support that the United States has provided to Kosovo in its journey toward becoming a sovereign nation. "The United States has proudly supported Kosovo’s journey to becoming a sovereign, democratic, multiethnic, and prosperous country," he stated.

He also highlighted the importance of regional peace and economic development for Kosovo's prosperity. "Regional peace, security, and economic development remain essential to Kosovo’s enduring prosperity," Rubio added.

As part of his message, Rubio recognized the friendship between the two nations. "As you celebrate your independence, we honor the friendship and shared values between our people," he concluded.
