"We are grateful to President Donald Trump for his friendship and solidarity with the people of Israel and the state of Israel," said Herzog.
Herzog described the events of October 7th when Israelis near the border were abducted and suffered violence. He highlighted Israel's resilience in overcoming these challenges and reiterated the nation's desire for peace. The return of hostages remains a priority for Israel, according to Herzog: "Most importantly, we are – we are screaming, aching, praying, working tirelessly to bring each and every one of our hostages back home."
Secretary Rubio assured President Herzog of America's commitment to helping secure the release of all hostages. "On behalf of the President, I can tell you he is strongly and deeply committed to the goal of every single hostage returning home," stated Rubio.
Rubio also addressed broader regional challenges and opportunities following recent developments in Lebanon. He underscored Iran's role as a destabilizing force in various conflicts affecting both Israel and America: "What’s behind all of it? Iran. Iran." He emphasized that Iran's regime has driven instability worldwide.
The Secretary affirmed strong U.S.-Israel relations under President Trump's administration: "But just know that there has been no stronger supporter of the state of Israel in the White House than President Trump."
