George Washington's Birthday will be observed as a federal holiday on Monday, February 17, 2025. This day is one of eleven permanent holidays established by Congress and is often used to honor all individuals who have served as presidents of the United States.

Washington was a Founding Father and the first president of the United States, serving from 1789 to 1797. Born in Virginia on February 11, 1731, according to the Julian calendar, his birthday was later adjusted to February 22, 1732, following the adoption of the Gregorian calendar in 1752.

Numerous places and monuments bear Washington's name, including Washington D.C., the state of Washington, and the Washington Monument on the National Mall. He is also one of four presidents depicted on Mount Rushmore and appears on contemporary U.S. currency such as the one-dollar bill.

In observance of this holiday, "The U.S. Embassy in Finland is closed on Monday, February 17."
