The United States, Australia, India, and Japan have issued a joint statement emphasizing their commitment to maintaining a Free and Open Indo-Pacific. Meeting in Washington D.C., the Secretary of State of the United States and the Foreign Ministers of Australia, India, and Japan highlighted their dedication to upholding democratic values, sovereignty, and territorial integrity in the region.
"Our four nations maintain our conviction that international law, economic opportunity, peace, stability, and security in all domains including the maritime domain underpin the development and prosperity of the peoples of the Indo-Pacific," they stated. The ministers also expressed strong opposition to any attempts to alter the status quo through force or coercion.
The group emphasized their focus on strengthening regional maritime, economic, and technology security amidst rising threats. They also stressed promoting reliable and resilient supply chains. Looking ahead, they plan to continue advancing Quad initiatives over the coming months with regular meetings leading up to the next Quad Leaders’ Summit in India.
