Today, President Donald J. Trump announced the recognition of February 2025 as National Black History Month. This annual event celebrates the contributions of black American patriots who have significantly influenced the nation's history.

In his proclamation, President Trump acknowledged the role of black Americans as influential leaders in shaping both cultural and political aspects of the United States. He highlighted figures such as Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Thomas Sowell, Justice Clarence Thomas, and Tiger Woods for their achievements and impact on American society.

"This National Black History Month, as America prepares to enter a historic Golden Age," President Trump stated, "I want to extend my tremendous gratitude to black Americans for all they have done to bring us to this moment."

The President called upon public officials, educators, librarians, and citizens across the nation to observe this month with appropriate programs and activities. The proclamation was signed on January 31, 2025.
