The U.S. Embassy in Serbia has announced the Fulbright Non-degree Research Program for Doctoral Students for the 2022-2023 academic year. This program allows PhD students from Serbia to conduct research at a U.S. university related to their thesis. The grants last between six and nine months and cover fields such as Agriculture, American History, Biological Sciences, Engineering, Political Science, among others.

According to the announcement, "Participants are selected through an open, merit-based competition." The award covers tuition fees at a U.S. university, provides a monthly living stipend, health insurance, and international airfare.

To be eligible for this program, applicants must be Serbian citizens enrolled in a PhD program at a Serbian university with at least a Master's degree. They should also be proficient in English and eligible for a J-1 visa that requires returning to Serbia after the grant period ends.

The selection process involves pre-screening of applications followed by interviews conducted in English by a committee comprising Embassy representatives and scholars from both countries. Nominees require final approval by the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

Applications must include an online application form available on the specified website along with three letters of reference, academic transcripts or diplomas translated into English, TOEFL test results if available, and other necessary documents scanned and uploaded as per instructions.

Prospective candidates should note that public health conditions or consular services may impact their ability to travel or participate in programs due to ongoing global situations.
