Yuanta Financial Holding Company and Yuanta Cultural and Educational Foundation recently hosted two "Yuanta Happiness Days" to celebrate the Lunar New Year with orphanage students in Taiwan. The events, held on January 21 and 22, brought together 107 students from northern Taiwan to visit sports stores where they selected sportswear and shoes as gifts for the New Year. Thirty volunteers from Yuanta participated in these activities, helping to create a festive atmosphere.
The tradition of Yuanta Happiness Day began before the 2012 Lunar New Year under the guidance of Mrs. Li-Chuang Tu, former chairwoman of the Yuanta Foundation. Known affectionately as Grandma Tu, she noted that new clothes and shoes are particularly exciting for children during this festival. To continue this tradition, Yuanta Foundation organizes trips for orphanage students to choose their own apparel with the support of volunteers.
A shuttle bus transported the students to the sports store, where they chose their favorite items with visible excitement. Volunteers provided assistance and shared personal stories, enhancing the experience with warmth and laughter. One volunteer remarked on their role by saying, “When the children grow up, they may remember that one Lunar New Year, some big brothers and big sisters accompanied them to pick out clothes.” Another volunteer expressed how touching it was to see "the children’s happy smiles."
Yuanta FHC has long been committed to supporting child and adolescent care as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts. Over fourteen years, Yuanta has organized 49 such events and delivered 8,756 Happiness Gift Packs with help from 2,238 volunteers. These efforts aim to encourage children to pursue their dreams confidently.
