As of April 5, the Serbian Ministry of Health has reported a total of 621,375 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Serbia, with 5,497 deaths. In the last 24 hours alone, 13,974 individuals were tested, resulting in 3,706 new cases. The number of hospitalized patients stands at approximately 7,839.

The Government of Serbia has implemented updated country-wide measures effective from April 5. Businesses and services that are allowed to operate may do so between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Cafes, bars, and restaurants with outdoor seating can function under strict epidemiological guidelines but cannot host live music performances. Shopping malls and indoor dining establishments remain closed; however, take-away services continue to be available around the clock.

Further restrictions include mandatory face coverings indoors and on public transport. Public gatherings exceeding five people are prohibited both indoors and outdoors unless they occur within work organizations or schools adhering to spatial regulations.

Regarding entry into Serbia, fully vaccinated individuals no longer need a negative COVID-19 test or quarantine upon returning to the country as of April 5. Previous entry requirements remain unchanged for travelers from specific neighboring countries who do not require a PCR test for entry.

Travelers originating from the United States must present either a negative PCR or antigen test result when entering Serbia. Specific exemptions apply to certain categories such as minors accompanied by adults with valid tests and accredited diplomatic staff.

For those traveling to the United States from January 26 onward, a negative COVID-19 viral test is required within three days before travel or proof of recovery from the virus within the past 90 days.

The U.S. Department of State advises reconsidering travel to Serbia (Level 3 Advisory), while the CDC issues a Level 4 Warning against non-essential travel due to COVID-19 concerns.

U.S citizens are encouraged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for updates and consult relevant health authorities' websites for current information regarding COVID-19 precautions and travel advisories.
