The U.S. Department of State has updated its travel advisory for Serbia, raising it to Level 4: Do Not Travel due to COVID-19 concerns. This change reflects a revised methodology in assessing travel advice, aligning with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Travel Health Notices. The adjustment may not necessarily indicate a shift in conditions within Serbia but rather stems from the new assessment process.

According to the CDC, Serbia currently has a very high level of COVID-19, prompting the issuance of a Level 4 Travel Health Notice. In addition to health risks, travelers are advised to exercise increased caution due to crime in Serbia. Violence linked to organized crime and high-profile sporting events is reportedly common.

For those considering travel to Serbia, further information can be found on the Embassy's COVID-19 page and the Department of State’s COVID-19 page.
