Sun Life U.S. and the Maine Celtics recently organized the second annual Fit to Win event at the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Maine in Portland. This initiative, based on a similar program by Sun Life with the Boston Celtics, aims to educate children about fitness, nutrition, and mental wellness. Participants engage in activities like smoothie making, journal writing, and basketball workouts while collecting "fitness passport" stamps.

Maine Celtics players DJ Rodman and Don Carey Jr. attended the event to coach and support the children. Dajuan Eubanks, team president of the Maine Celtics, expressed gratitude towards Sun Life for their partnership: "We are excited to bring this program to the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Maine for the second year and support all the great work they do with the kids in our community."

Sun Life U.S., a major provider of employee benefits and health services, expanded its partnership with the Boston Celtics to include the Maine Celtics in 2023. In June that year, both organizations unveiled a renovated basketball court at the Boys and Girls Club.

Ed Milano, vice president of Marketing at Sun Life U.S., emphasized the importance of educating children about healthy living: "When we equip kids with the knowledge they need to live healthier lives, we help them become healthy adults." He praised the collaboration with both the Boys and Girls Club staff and the Maine Celtics.

The Fit to Win program has been running since 2015 in partnership with YMCA of Greater Boston, reaching over 2,000 children across New England. Additionally, Sun Life conducts an annual campaign called #SunLifeDunk4Diabetes each November alongside the Boston Celtics to support YMCA's Healthy Habits program.
