The U.S. Embassy has issued an advisory for protests scheduled in Bratislava on August 12 and 13. These demonstrations are organized by various opposition groups and NGOs in response to recent actions taken by the Slovak government. Authorities anticipate large gatherings, which may lead to road closures, traffic disruptions, and public transportation cancellations. The embassy advises U.S. citizens to avoid these areas.

On Monday, August 12, the protest will start at the Slovak National Theatre (SND) with a march along Sturova to Namestie SNP (SNP Square) beginning at 3:00 PM. On Tuesday, August 13, the demonstration will be held at Namestie SNP (SNP Square) starting at 6:00 PM.

U.S. citizens are urged to remain cautious of their surroundings and practice situational awareness at all times. They should stay alert for any spontaneous counter-protests and remove themselves from any area where altercations or violence occur.

To assist U.S. citizens during this time, the embassy suggests enrolling in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for security updates and ease of contact in emergencies. The U.S. Embassy is located at Hviezdoslavovo Namestie 4-5 in Bratislava and can be contacted at 02/544 308 61 during business hours or +421-903-703-666 after hours for emergencies.
