The U.S. Embassy in La Paz, Bolivia has announced that representatives from the Regional Federal Benefits Office will be visiting Bolivia to provide services related to U.S. Social Security benefits. This initiative is aimed at beneficiaries or individuals who have inquiries about these benefits.
In Santa Cruz, the services will be available at Equipetrol Norte, Edificio Centro Empresarial Equipetrol on Avenida San Martin, on Monday, February 10th from 9 am to 4 pm.
For Cochabamba residents, the venue is Centro Boliviano Americano located at Calle 25 de Mayo N-0365. Services will be offered on Tuesday, February 11th from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and Wednesday, February 12th from 8:30 am to 4 pm.
In La Paz, the services can be accessed at the U.S. Embassy’s Consular Section on Av. Arce 2780. The schedule for La Paz is Thursday, February 13th from 9 am to 4 pm and Friday, February 14th from 8:30 am to 11:30 am.
Appointments are necessary and can be scheduled by contacting FBU Argentina via email at FBU.Argentina@ssa.gov. The subject line should include “APPOINTMENT SSA – La Paz or Cochabamba or Santa Cruz.” In your email body include your full name, date of birth, last four digits of your SSN, phone contact information and details of the issue you wish to discuss.
Individuals applying for Social Security benefits need to bring originals and photocopies of their birth certificate and passport. If applying for auxiliary or survivor’s benefits, marriage certificates or death certificates are also required.
To apply for a Social Security Number Card, a copy of a valid U.S. passport along with a Certificate of Birth Abroad or original birth certificate must be presented along with a completed form SS-5FS.
For those needing assistance with Foreign Enforcement Questionnaire (FEQ), known as “proof of life” forms (Form SSA-7162), these are mailed in June and October to all beneficiaries residing in Bolivia.
