The United States Embassy in Serbia has announced the Fulbright Graduate Study Program competition for the 2024-2025 academic year. This program offers young professionals from Serbia the opportunity to pursue master's level studies at U.S. universities in various fields, including agriculture, American history, computer science, law, and more.
Selection for this prestigious award is conducted through an open, merit-based competition. The award covers tuition and fees at a U.S. university, provides a monthly living stipend, health insurance, and international airfare.
To be eligible for the program, applicants must be citizens of Serbia. Those with permanent U.S. residency or dual citizenship (Serbian and U.S.) are not eligible. Proficiency in English is required as candidates will take TOEFL and GRE tests during selection. Applicants must also qualify for a J-1 visa that mandates returning to Serbia for two years after completing their studies.
Applicants need to have completed their undergraduate education by the time of application submission and should not currently be studying in the United States. A satisfactory medical clearance is also necessary.
The selection criteria include a strong academic record and personal adaptability. Candidates should represent Serbian culture positively and preference is given to those who have not previously studied in the United States.
Applications undergo pre-screening before selected candidates are invited for interviews conducted by a committee comprising embassy representatives, scholars from both countries, and Fulbright alumni. Final approval rests with the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.
Applicants must submit an online application along with three letters of reference, academic transcripts or diplomas translated into English or verified copies of originals, valid TOEFL and GRE test results if taken within two years prior to application submission, and a copy of their passport.
All applications must be submitted by May 8, 2023. Applications sent outside the official system will not be considered.
