The United States Central Command has commenced the airlift of humanitarian supplies to Pakistan in response to severe flooding. This initiative, supporting the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), aims to deliver essential life-support resources valued at nearly $2.2 million. These resources include food preparation and shelter materials, scheduled for delivery in approximately 20 shipments across Pakistan over the coming days.

On September 2, USAID deployed a Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) to lead the U.S. government's efforts in addressing the crisis, with support from the U.S. military. The total U.S. flood response contribution for 2022 now amounts to $30.1 million, incorporating these airlifted supplies.

"The United States remains deeply saddened by the devastation caused by the catastrophic flooding throughout Pakistan," stated an official source. The humanitarian aid focuses on providing food, nutrition, cash assistance, safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene improvements, and shelter support.

U.S. support for Pakistan is described as "unwavering," reflecting a long history of assistance that includes disaster preparedness programs such as early warning systems training and capacity building for local leaders and government authorities. Prior to this year's floods, $3 million was allocated to improve food security and livelihoods.

Additionally, schools rebuilt with U.S. aid after the 2010 floods are currently being used as shelters for those affected by recent events.
