The United States has announced a new package of assistance aimed at supporting vulnerable populations in Ukraine. This aid will address urgent humanitarian needs by providing shelter, home repairs, blankets, bedding, warm clothing, and other essential support. Additionally, the funding will cover physical therapy, wheelchairs, rehabilitation services, and counseling for individuals traumatized by ongoing violence.

This initiative also aims to improve facilities for internally displaced persons and make small infrastructure repairs. It seeks to assist local governments in restoring public services in areas affected by conflict.

The latest announcement increases the total U.S. Government humanitarian and early recovery assistance to Ukraine since the crisis began to over $38 million. These funds are directed towards organizations such as UNHCR, the International Organization for Migration, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the United Nations Population Fund, OCHA, and various non-governmental organizations operating in Ukraine.

Including this new funding allocation, U.S. assistance to Ukraine over the past year has surpassed $355 million. This support is intended to help Ukraine establish security, restore economic stability, and implement necessary reforms. In addition to these efforts, a $1 billion loan guarantee was issued in May 2014. The Administration has also expressed its intention to collaborate with Congress on up to $2 billion in additional loan guarantees in 2015 if Ukraine continues its reform progress under appropriate conditions.
