Viet Nam and the United States have reached a mutually agreed solution in their ongoing dispute over fish duties. This resolution comes as part of the World Trade Organization's (WTO) dispute settlement process, which allows parties to settle disagreements by finding a "mutually agreed solution."
Such solutions must be acceptable to both parties involved in the dispute and must align with the relevant WTO agreement. Additionally, they should not nullify or impair benefits that accrue under the agreement to any other member.
The parties are required to notify the Dispute Settlement Body, along with relevant councils and committees, about any mutually agreed solution they have achieved.
Further details on this development can be found in document WT/DS536/26.
