The U.S. Mission in Ecuador, alongside the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM), has announced a call for proposals for the Julia Taft Refugee Fund. This opportunity is open to non-governmental organizations engaged in refugee protection and assistance within Ecuador. The fund aims to address one-time, low-cost gaps in refugee support and respond to urgent needs unmet by larger multilateral programs.
Proposals must be submitted by January 25, 2023, at 11:59 pm Quito time. Interested organizations should send their proposals to QuitoPRMGrants@state.gov with "Proposal for the Julia Taft Refugee Fund – [insert the name of the organization]" in the subject line.
For fiscal year 2023, the U.S. Embassy may grant multiple awards up to $25,000 each, contingent on funding availability. Organizations are encouraged to focus on specific areas outlined in the application package.
All proposals must be written in English and include several components: a program description with expected benefits and details of the implementing NGO; a detailed project timeline; a budget in USD; proof of registration in SAMS.gov; and a copy of the organization's code of conduct. PRM advises that codes of conduct align with Inter-agency Standing Committee (IASC) Principles concerning protection from sexual exploitation and abuse.
A selection committee at the U.S. Embassy in Quito will review applications based on proposal strength as per specified criteria. Proposals are limited to two pages but may include additional work plans or calendars as appendices, which do not count towards this limit.
Successful applicants will be notified upon completion of the review process.
