Marco Rubio was officially sworn in as Secretary of State on January 21, 2025, at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington, D.C. The ceremony was attended by Vice President Vance, who praised Rubio's dedication and principles.

Vice President Vance remarked on Rubio's background, noting his rise from humble beginnings as the son of Cuban immigrants to becoming a significant figure in Washington. "He is a bipartisan solutions-seeker," Vance stated, emphasizing Rubio's understanding of President Trump's foreign policy priorities.

Rubio expressed gratitude to his family for their support. He highlighted the importance of his wife Jeanette and their four children being present at the event. "The most important job I'll ever have is that of a father and a husband," he said.

Acknowledging Senator Jim Risch for his role in facilitating the process, Rubio also reflected on their close working relationship during his time in the Senate.

As Secretary of State, Rubio emphasized that U.S. foreign policy under President Trump would prioritize national interests. "President Trump has made it very clear everything we do... must be justified by the answer to one of three questions: Does it make us stronger, does it make us safer, and does it make us more prosperous?" he explained.

Rubio concluded with a note of gratitude towards God and expressed commitment to supporting President Trump's agenda. "We will work hard every second of the day to help him achieve the agenda the American people have given him to achieve," he affirmed.

The event marked an important transition for Rubio as he takes on this new role within the administration.
