Eben Schwartz, the Marine Debris Program Manager for the California Coastal Commission, visited Poland from April 8 to April 11. During his visit, he engaged with audiences in Warsaw, Gdańsk, and Gdynia as part of the U.S. Speaker Program leading up to Earth Day.

Schwartz met with various Polish organizations including NGOs, local activists, students, faculty members, and city government representatives. The discussions focused on the sources and impact of plastic pollution and marine debris. He also talked about the Commission’s Clean Up Day initiative, which is recognized as the largest state volunteer effort aimed at cleaning oceans and shores. Additionally, educational programs and state regulations designed to reduce plastic pollution were highlighted.

The program featured a second event in the U.S. Embassy's In Focus: Polish American Speaker Series at the American Center Warsaw where Eben Schwartz served as an expert speaker.
