Poland has decided to proceed with the acquisition of the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) from the United States. This move was finalized through a Letter of Offer and Acceptance signed on February 13, marking the end of negotiations between the two countries.

The decision enhances potential cooperation between U.S. and Polish land forces. Poland's purchase of the HIMARS platform underscores its commitment to its own defense, NATO's defense, and NATO burden sharing by spending at least 2 percent of GDP on defense.

Lockheed Martin's HIMARS delivery is seen as a significant step in boosting U.S.-Polish military cooperation, an important goal for their bilateral relationship. Poland is adopting a "total package approach," including comprehensive training and maintenance capabilities, which it values at over $400 million. Exporting advanced U.S. technology supports Poland’s ongoing defense modernization program, which receives more than 25% of its defense budget. The United States anticipates working with Poland as it advances its long-range precision fire capabilities.
