President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are set to travel to Riyadh on January 27. Their visit aims to pay respects to King Salman bin Abdulaziz and the family of the late King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz. Initially, Vice President Joe Biden was scheduled to lead a delegation to Saudi Arabia on behalf of the President.
However, as travel schedules were finalized, it became apparent that the Vice President's time in Riyadh would coincide with President Obama's departure from India. In response, adjustments were made in coordination with the Indian Government. This allows President Obama to leave India after his speech on Tuesday and make a stop in Riyadh during his return trip.
During this visit, President Obama plans to meet with King Salman and other Saudi officials, offering condolences on behalf of the American people. The White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest noted that "the President regrets that he will be unable to visit Agra during this trip." Consequently, Vice President Biden will remain in Washington.
