The Embassy of the United States and the Taipei Cultural and Economic Delegation to Switzerland are set to host a workshop under the Global Cooperation and Training Framework on March 13 in Bern. This event aims to gather experts from the United States, Taiwan, and Switzerland representing government sectors, private enterprises, and civil society. The focus will be on economic resilience and supply chain restructuring.

U.S. Ambassador Scott C. Miller and Dr. David W. F. Huang, Taiwan's Representative in Switzerland, are scheduled to deliver opening remarks at the event. Dr. Roy Chun Lee, who serves as Taiwan's Representative to the European Union, will provide the keynote address.

The workshop will feature two panel discussions addressing key topics: “Geopolitical risk, economic coercion and the robustness of supply chains” and “Off-shoring, friend-shoring and economic resilience.” Swiss officials along with members of parliament are expected to participate.

Established through a memorandum signed by the United States and Taiwan on June 1, 2015, the Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF) includes Japan and Australia as well. The GCTF seeks to leverage Taiwan’s strengths to tackle global issues that concern all parties involved. Since its inception, it has conducted 70 workshops covering diverse subjects such as public health, law enforcement cooperation, women’s empowerment, energy efficiency, e-commerce, cybersecurity, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and media literacy.
