Barclays appoints Paul Johnson as head of equities for Asia Pacific

Barclays has announced the appointment of Paul Johnson as Head of Equities for the Asia Pacific region. Johnson will lead the equities franchise with a focus on equity derivatives, equity-linked financing, electronic trading, and oversight for prime services. He will be based in Hong Kong and report to Scott McDavid, Global Head of Equities, and Jaideep Khanna, CEO of Barclays Asia Pacific.

Johnson brings over two decades of experience in equities and derivatives across global markets. Previously, he served as APAC Co-Head of Equity Derivatives and Head of Exotics Equity Derivatives Trading at Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong. Before that, he was Head of CEEMEA & Latam FXO Trading at Bank of America in London.

Barclays has been operating in Asia Pacific for over 50 years, supporting corporations and financial institutions with cross-border investment banking needs. The bank also has a growing private banking business in the region.

Recent developments at Barclays include relocating its operations to Mumbai's Raheja Altimus in December 2024 and establishing a new private banking booking center in Singapore.
