U.S. and Japan reaffirm alliance during UNSC discussions

Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S. Representative to the United Nations, held a meeting with Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi. According to Nate Evans, Spokesperson for the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, they "reaffirmed the importance of the U.S.-Japan alliance" and discussed mutual priorities as members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Their dialogue included topics such as issues related to North Korea and concerns regarding Russia's ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Additionally, they considered ways to enhance trilateral cooperation involving both countries along with the Republic of Korea.
