The U.S. Embassy in Cairo, alongside the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and the Egyptian Ministry of International Cooperation, is set to announce the launch of the U.S.-Egypt Higher Education Initiative (HEI) today at 4:00 pm local time. The event will take place at the Tahrir Campus of the American University in Cairo and will be live-streamed on the U.S. Embassy's website.
This initiative represents a $250 million investment by the U.S. government, aimed at providing scholarships and exchanges for 1,900 Egyptian students. These opportunities will allow both women and men to study in Egypt and America in fields crucial to Egypt’s economic development, ultimately preparing them for jobs in the modern economy.
Additionally, the initiative plans to establish partnerships with up to twenty higher education institutions. These collaborations are intended to enhance research capabilities and exchanges between Egyptian and American universities, thereby improving their standing in the global knowledge-based economy.
