Representatives from nearly 50 American companies gathered in Cairo on March 29 to engage with Egyptian government officials and private sector leaders. The meeting aimed to discuss Egypt's global economic competitiveness and explore opportunities for expanding operations in the country.
The event, named the Egyptian Competitiveness Forum, was organized by the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) with support from the U.S. Embassy in Cairo.
"As American firms and multinational corporations explore opportunities in Egypt," BCIU President Peter Tichansky stated, "the Forum facilitated discussion with Egypt’s leadership about fostering an environment conducive to entrepreneurship and innovation in order to fully capitalize on Egypt’s unique position in the region."
U.S. Ambassador Stephen Beecroft emphasized the U.S. Government's commitment to a stable and prosperous Egypt: "This Forum is a testament to the interest in increasing collaboration between Egypt and the United States. I am pleased that so many U.S. firms are interested in competing for opportunities to expand their presence in Egypt."
The Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) is a nonpartisan organization based in the United States that focuses on expanding international trade and commerce by helping member companies engage globally. The Foreign Commercial Service of the U.S. Department of Commerce played a crucial role in facilitating this forum.
