The United States Department of State's Special Advisor for Children's Issues, Ambassador Susan S. Jacobs, visited Cairo to engage with Egyptian officials on matters concerning children wrongfully removed from their homes and taken across international borders by a parent or guardian.
During her visit, Ambassador Jacobs met with Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs, Ambassador Hisham El-Nakib at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She also held discussions with Counselor Adel Fahmy, Director of the inter-ministerial Good Intentions Sub-Committee at the Ministry of Justice.
In these meetings, she expressed gratitude for the cooperation between the U.S. and Egypt in resolving cases involving children wrongfully taken from their homes by a parent. The focus was also on facilitating access to these children by the left-behind parent.
Ambassador Jacobs and her Egyptian counterparts committed to enhancing bilateral cooperation on this issue, emphasizing that their actions would prioritize the best interests of the children involved.
