Cairo – General Joseph F. Dunford, Jr., the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, met with top Egyptian military officials on February 20th. The visit aimed to enhance the security collaboration between Egypt and the United States.
During his time in Cairo, General Dunford held discussions with Minister of Defense General Sedky Sobhy and Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces LTG Mahmoud Hegazy. The meetings focused on strengthening bilateral relations and addressing terrorism challenges where joint efforts could prove beneficial.
General Dunford serves as the highest-ranking military officer in the United States and is a key military advisor to President Obama, Secretary of Defense Ash Carter, and the National Security Council.
The U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff include various senior military leaders such as the Vice Chairman, chiefs from different branches including Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and the Chief of the National Guard Bureau.
