The United States is set to deliver eight F-16 Block 52 aircraft to Egypt on July 30 and 31. These jets will be handed over at an airbase west of Cairo, reflecting ongoing U.S. support for Egypt and the broader region. The fighter jets will fly directly from Fort Worth, Texas, joining the Egyptian Air Force's existing fleet of American-made F-16s.

Major General Charles Hooper, a senior military diplomat at the U.S. embassy in Cairo, emphasized the significance of this delivery. He stated, "the aircraft F-16 provides a valuable and much needed capability in these times of instability in the region." He further noted that this move underscores America's commitment to maintaining strong relations with Egypt through continuous cooperation and capacity exchange between the two nations. "Extremists threaten regional security and progress of these weapons a new tool to help Egypt in its war on terrorism," he added.

This year, the United States has committed $1.3 billion towards enhancing Egypt's security and military capabilities. This commitment is deemed crucial, especially given Egypt's ongoing counter-terrorism efforts. Delivering the F-16 Block 52 aircraft represents one of the most significant steps taken by the U.S. government to bolster its longstanding friendship and strategic partnership with Egypt.

Later this fall, another four F-16 jets will be delivered to Egypt by the United States. Additionally, there will be continued support for maintenance and training for Egyptian pilots and ground crews.
