Applications are now open for the 2025 Youth Ambassadors Program with the Caribbean, as announced by the U.S. Embassy Nassau’s Public Diplomacy Section. This program is designed to create a network of young adults from various countries in the Americas who demonstrate civic responsibility, community commitment, awareness of global issues, and leadership skills. It aims to foster mutual understanding and collaboration between people in the United States and other Western Hemisphere nations.
The program is available to teenagers aged 15-18 and adult educators (mentors). The Bahamas will host a multi-country exchange during summer 2025, with exact dates to be determined. This three-week exchange program, which is fully funded, brings together high school students and adult mentors from across the Caribbean.
Countries participating include Antigua & Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad & Tobago.
Eligibility requirements for youth participants include being a citizen and resident of The Bahamas; being between 15-18 years old at the start of the exchange; having at least one semester left after August 2025; demonstrating leadership potential and community involvement; having limited U.S. or international travel experience; and obtaining parental or legal guardian permission for U.S. travel or online programming.
Adult educator applicants must be citizens and residents of The Bahamas; actively work with youth in high school or community settings; and be willing to meet periodically with selected students from their city or region during the 2025/2026 academic year to support their follow-on work.
