The U.S. Consulate General in Alexandria has officially reopened as of November 1, 2016. This reopening marks a significant step forward for the Consulate's operations in the region. "We have been looking forward to this day for several years," stated Consul General Stephen Fakan. He expressed enthusiasm about having a purpose-built space to enhance engagement with Alexandria and its surrounding areas.
Fakan emphasized the importance of collaboration with both government institutions and private sector organizations, aiming to foster educational, cultural, and economic opportunities in Alexandria and the Delta region.
The Consulate has actively promoted Egyptian-American partnership through initiatives such as “Skills for Success” scholarships, an English Conversation Club, and collaborations with local educational institutions for eLibrary and StudyUSA sessions. With new facilities now available, there are plans to expand these efforts further, focusing on education, economic development, women's advancement, and entrepreneurship.
Consulate Public Affairs Officer Minta Madeley announced upcoming events celebrating Global Entrepreneurship Week and International Education Week in mid-November. These events will include talks, seminars, competitions, and film showings aimed at engaging with the community.
The Consulate serves several governorates including Alexandria, Beheira, Damietta, Port Said, Dakahlia, Gharbia, Marsa Matrouh, and Kafr el-Sheikh.
