Leading a significant business delegation, Ambassador David Thorne, Senior Advisor to Secretary of State John Kerry, has arrived in Cairo. The delegation includes representatives from over 50 U.S. companies and aims to strengthen economic relations between the United States and Egypt.
This initiative is jointly organized by the U.S. and Egyptian American Chambers of Commerce and Business Councils. From October 23-25, 2016, the delegation plans to meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, government officials, and leaders in Egypt's private sector to explore opportunities for increased engagement.
"The United States is committed to strengthening its long-term economic partnership with Egypt," said Ambassador Thorne. "This business delegation is clear indication of U.S. private sector interest in Egypt and its future."
Appointed as Senior Advisor in August 2013, Ambassador Thorne has visited Egypt multiple times. His role includes leading efforts within the Department of State to emphasize economic and commercial issues within U.S. foreign policy. He also focuses on promoting entrepreneurship, technology, and innovation globally.
