U.S. delegation visits Ecuador to discuss security cooperation

Special Presidential Advisor for the Americas, Christopher Dodd, will lead a U.S. delegation to Ecuador from January 22 to 25. The visit aims to strengthen security cooperation between the two nations. The delegation includes U.S. Army General Laura Richardson and Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Counternarcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, Christopher Landberg.

The group plans to engage in discussions on enhancing bilateral security cooperation and addressing threats from transnational criminal organizations. Meetings are scheduled with Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa, his ministers responsible for defense, government, foreign affairs, economy, and finance. Additionally, they will meet senior law enforcement and justice officials and representatives from civil society focused on combating corruption.

"Special Presidential Advisor for the Americas Christopher Dodd will lead a U.S. Government delegation that will visit Ecuador between January 22 and 25," according to a statement released ahead of the visit.

The agenda underscores the importance of collaborative approaches in confronting shared security challenges in the region.
