Barclays has announced the appointment of Pier Luigi Colizzi as a Global Chairman of Investment Banking. Colizzi, who previously served as Chairman of EMEA M&A, will join the Global Chairman Group (GCG). This group, established in 2021 within the Investment Bank, focuses on managing key client relationships and strategic opportunities across Barclays' business lines.

The GCG has been instrumental in advising on over a trillion dollars' worth of M&A deals and numerous IPOs since its inception. Mark Zanoli, Co-Head of the GCG, remarked on Colizzi's extensive experience: "Pier Luigi has extensive experience leading the coverage of many of Barclays’ large corporate clients in EMEA, focusing on C-Suite strategic dialogue and origination of large M&A transactions and will be a valuable addition to the Global Chairman Group."

Ingrid Hengster, also Co-Head of the GCG, emphasized Colizzi's role in reinforcing Barclays' European Investment Banking efforts: "With his long history working with clients across the European region, Pier Luigi’s addition to the group reinforces the importance of the European Investment Banking opportunity for Barclays."

Colizzi brings 30 years of M&A and investment banking experience to his new role. He joined Barclays in 2012 and held several leadership positions before this latest appointment. His career also includes significant roles at Citi, Credit Suisse First Boston, BZW, and Smith Barney.
