General Garrett discusses US-Egypt partnership during Cairo visit

The U.S. Embassy in Cairo hosted Lieutenant General Michael X. Garrett from July 15 to 17, 2017. Lt. Gen. Garrett, who serves as the Commanding General of United States Army Central, has made several visits to Egypt over the past two years.

During his visit, Lt. Gen. Garrett engaged with senior Egyptian military officials to discuss the enduring partnership between the United States and Egypt. The discussions also focused on collaborative efforts to combat terrorism and mutual interests in ensuring regional stability and security.

U.S. Army Central operates as the Army component of U.S. Central Command, which is tasked with enhancing partnerships in the Middle East and conducting land force operations within the region.

Lt. Gen. Garrett praised the security cooperation between the U.S. and Egypt, stating, “Our partnership with the Egyptian military is incredibly important for the stability of the region.”
