Ambassador R. Stephen Beecroft has concluded his tenure as the U.S. Ambassador to Egypt, departing on June 30 after three years in the role. The responsibilities of Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Mission in Egypt have now been taken over by Deputy Chief of Mission Thomas H. Goldberger.

Goldberger is an experienced diplomat and a member of the Senior Foreign Service. He has been stationed in Cairo since September 2014 as Deputy Chief of Mission. Before his assignment in Egypt, Goldberger served at U.S. embassies in Baghdad, Tel Aviv, and various other missions across the region and Europe.
