Following the re-election of President Abdelfattah al-Sisi, the United States has expressed its intention to continue working with Egypt. The U.S. State Department spokesperson, Heather Nauert, stated that the partnership aims to advance strategic objectives and address common challenges. Nauert emphasized the importance of respecting and protecting basic rights and freedoms.

"The United States values its strong partnership with Egypt and will continue to work to advance our shared objectives," Nauert remarked.

The statement also addressed concerns regarding limitations on freedoms during the election period. Reports have indicated constraints on expression and association in the lead-up to the elections. In response, Nauert mentioned that efforts would be made to encourage broader political participation in Egypt.

"We will continue to encourage a broadening of opportunities for political participation for Egyptians," she noted, highlighting the significance of human rights protection and civil society's role in Egypt.

The U.S. government remains committed to fostering a cooperative relationship with Egypt while advocating for democratic principles and human rights.
