Chargé d’Affaires Thomas Goldberger and Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Qabil recently welcomed Martin Radvan, President of Mars Wrigley Confectionery Company, to Egypt. The occasion marked the expansion of Mars' production facility in 6th of October City. Senior executives from Mars Wrigley, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, and Tarek Tawfik, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, were also present.
Goldberger congratulated Mars on its substantial increase in production capacity for both export and domestic markets. He emphasized that Mars' success in Egypt exemplifies a beneficial U.S.-Egyptian partnership. Goldberger stated: “America’s and Egypt’s commercial and economic ties are an integral part of our strategic partnership; they complement and support our strong security and political cooperation as we work together to eradicate terrorism and to make the world a better, more peaceful and prosperous place.”
He further noted that American companies are eager to engage with the Egyptian economy's growth momentum. This is demonstrated by Mars' decision to expand its operations within Egypt for local consumption and export purposes. Goldberger highlighted the Embassy's collaboration with Egyptian businesses and government agencies aimed at fostering private sector-led growth and job creation. He expressed optimism about strengthening U.S.-Egypt economic relations in the near future.
