Siemens eMobility is advancing Italy's green mobility initiatives through two significant electrification projects. In collaboration with Autolinee Toscane S.p.A., a public transport operator under RATP DEV Italia Group, Siemens is equipping bus depots in Florence, Prato, and Lucca with charging infrastructure to support the deployment of a zero-emission bus fleet. The project involves 73 SICHARGE UC charging points capable of delivering 100 and 150KW of power for electric vehicles. Siemens is also providing medium and low voltage electrical distribution systems, including IoT-enabled switches, to ensure reliable energy supply. Additionally, the DepotFinity software platform will manage charging operations within these depots.
In another development, Siemens eMobility has been engaged by IPLANET to equip over 120 logistics sites with advanced charging infrastructure. These sites will feature integrated Point of Sales (POS) systems that comply with Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR), activation via app or QR code, and interactive screens for accessibility. The network will include hundreds of 300-400 kW charging points monitored remotely through independent connectivity channels to ensure reliability.
The IPLANET project also incorporates Siemens' electrical distribution systems and scalable compact transformer substations that enable integration with renewable energy sources. Some service areas are already operational, featuring photovoltaic installations and facilities for heavy-duty EV charging.
"Projects like these underscore Siemens eMobility’s mission to integrate sustainable mobility into everyday life," said Markus Mildner, CEO of Siemens eMobility.
Siemens eMobility offers a comprehensive portfolio of IoT-connected hardware and software services for both AC and DC charging applications ranging from 11 kW to 1 MW. With more than 100,000 charging points installed globally across over 800 projects in more than 60 countries, the company continues its commitment to innovation in sustainable transportation solutions.
