The United States and the Commonwealth of The Bahamas have entered into a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) to support FAA-licensed commercial space operations that impact The Bahamas. This agreement aims to create a mutual understanding of U.S. commercial space transportation regulations and laws, facilitating The Bahamas's recognition of FAA licenses.
Kelvin B. Coleman, the FAA Associate Administrator of Commercial Space Transportation, stated, "Recognition of FAA licensing approvals eliminates duplicative safety assessments and approvals with a foreign government and enables the global growth of U.S. commercial space transportation."
This MOC is part of the United States' broader commitment to establishing a single global standard for safety in the commercial space transportation sector. Similar agreements have been signed with New Zealand and other nations such as Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.
